Creatine was first discovered in 1832 by the French scientist Michel- Eugene Chevreul, who succeeded in extracting the material from meat.
He called it creatine because of its similarity to the Greek word for meat.
In 1923 it was found that the average amount of creatine in humans is more than 100 gram, most of it concentrated in skeletal muscle.


In 1992, at the end of the Olympic games in Barcelona, the public became aware of the creatine issue, after the British golden athletes were quoted as saying that they attributed their success in the competitions to the use of a new supplement. Today creatine is considered to be the most popular legal food supplement in strength athletics.

Advantages of creatine use in improvement of physical performance
The creatine storage capacity of skeletal muscle is several times higher than the amount of creatine supplied by food or generated by endogenous synthesis. Taking creatine monohydrate during training has the following advantages:

Instructions for use
Loading phase:
0.3 gram of creatine per kg bodyweight for 5 days
The dose must be divided in 4 equal, daily portions and taken on an empty stomach, together with a monosaccharide and water.

Maintenance phase:
0.03, 0.04 gram of creatine per kg bodyweight as a single dose, two hours before training.

Remark:
The loading phase may be omitted and be replaced by a daily dose of 0.03-0.04 gram of creatine per kg bodyweight, two hours before training.

While using creatine monohydrate it is important to drink sufficient amounts of fluid.

After 6 weeks of creatine use, following the loading phase, it is recommended to pause for a month. Athletes taking creatine without a loading phase, but only on training days, can continue taking it without pausing.
